This morning multiple wrecks were reported throughout Durham County due to icy conditions. As of 7 a.m., 911 dispatch had responded to about 10 wrecks — all due to black ice. Two lanes of the Durham Freeway had to be closed so authorities could clear a multi-vehicle pileup. According to WTVD seven or eight vehicles collided after hitting black ice. At least three people had to be taken to the hospital. Police also closed 15-501 at MLK Parkway after a vehicle wrecked on a northbound ramp. Authorities say both of those wrecks were probably because of black ice.
