THIS DAY IN HIP HOP

March 29th – Philly`s DJ Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince release their triple platinum selling double sophomore album “He`s The DJ, I`m The Rapper” on Jive Records on this day in 1988.

The album’s G-Rated language and themes make it one of the first rap albums to cross over to younger audiences and young children and bring the playful and comedic side of hip-hop to the mainstream. It contained the smash hit “Parents Just Don`t Understand”, which won the first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.
