The City of Raleigh is partnering with the Leesville Community Safety Task Force to host a Back to School Safety Day at the Leesville School Complex on Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The complex is located at 8401 Leesville Road.

The free event will feature a bicycle rodeo course, pedestrian and bus stop safety demonstrations, fire safety information, air quality education and other activities. Participants can also receive free bicycle inspections from TLC for Bikes.

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department will share plans for a new multipurpose trail through Leesville Park.  The trail will connect Whitley Drive to Country Trail and provide an alternative route into the park and to Country Trail for pedestrians, bicyclists, and others coming from the neighborhoods south of Leesville Park. Staff will be available during the Back to School Safety Day event to answer questions about the new trail and receive feedback from the community.
