martinlutherkingihavedreamlgMillions will gather in Washington today to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. As this happens I am both honored to be here to witness a part of history, but it also reminds me of how far we HAVE NOT come.

Fifty years ago the oppression we faced was extremely overt. During the past fifty years the oppression of our people has been less overt, causing us to believe that we have advanced.

Some would suggest that we have enjoyed the fruits of integration – education, jobs with great pay, the ability to purchase a home and raise a family. While we may think these things demonstrate that we have  reached Dr. King’s dream; I would argue we are still very far from that dream.

There’s still lots of work to do.
