Kendrick Lamar just made history with the release of his third album, “To Pimp a Butterfly”!!!
The album was released a week early as a surprise to fans and set a first-day streaming record on Spotify.
All 12 tracks were documented by Billboard to have been streamed 9.6 million times by their streaming service within the initial release. This set a global record for first-day streams putting Kendrick above the previous record holder, Michael Buble.
Spotify was among the few places where listeners could review the full album without purchase. The company also notes that they only considered full track listens in their total count.
