The Australian immigration minister Peter Dutton has denied Chris Brown a visa on grounds of his “character,” according to the UK’s Independent.

Chris Brown was set to tour Australia in December but it looks like Brown and his camp will have to make other plans at the end of the year due to being denied a visa for his application to form in the country. Citing the BBC, the Independent’s referred to Brown’s domestic violence history, with Minister Dutton issued a “notice of intention to consider refusal.”

Australia’s Minister for Women, Michaelia Cash, also said the following:

“My strong recommendation would be: If you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel the world, there are going to be countries that say to you: ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia,’”

Every country has a right to deny visas for reasons they seem fit. But it is worth asking if Australia does this to every single person from elsewhere? And isn’t “character” a subjective thing to decide on? We certainly hope we won’t be seeing Charlie Sheen or the likes filming anything there.

Chris Brown definitely is realizing that when you do something as horribly wrong as commit violence against women, it follows you for the rest of your life. As for Australia, we’ve got our eyes on you and watching who you do and don’t let in.
