George Zimmerman who was acquitted of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin was reportedly attempting to sell the gun that was used in the murder through an online auction earlier today.

CNN is reporting that the auction was scheduled to be held today, but there is currently no record of Zimmerman’s firearm being sold anywhere online.

But mysteriously, when the auction was slated to begin, the weapon vanished from the website, replaced by a note that read, “Sorry, but the item you have requested is no longer in the system.”

Searches for Zimmerman and Trayvon, which earlier Thursday morning had yielded information about the gun and its sale, returned no results.

Zimmerman claims that the gun was recently returned to him by the Department Of Justice after being cleared of any wrongdoing in Trayvon’s death The auction was supposed to start at $5,000 and Zimmerman said that he would use the money to “fight [Black Lives Matter] violence against law enforcement officers.”
