50 lives have been lost, and another 50 have been injured in what is being called the worst mass shooting in US History. The shooting occurred around 2am at Pulse nightclub, a gay nightclub located in Orlando, FL.

Details are still emerging on the senseless act of violence, but what we do know is that the shooter is 29-year-old Omar Mateen, who died from police gunfire after a 3-hour hostage situation.

The attack is being considered both a terrorist attack and a hate crime, because Mateen specifically targeted gays.

More on Mateen:

“He’s an American citizen and he has family that are not — his parents are Afghan.  Authorities say he was a terrorist and was targeting gays.  They say in addition to terrorism this is a hate crime.

Authorities also believe he is part of the radical Islam movement, although they do not know if it was an organized attack or if he was a lone wolf.

Law enforcement says he was well prepared, with an assault weapon, a handgun and 2 suspicious devices.”

Please pray for the victims and their families during this difficult time.
