With a new baby on the way….Alica Keys is finally the “new” wife of Swizz Beatz! The two got married this weekend after rumors that it had already taken place. Alicia wore a Vera Wang gown during the celebration, while Swizz wore a suit made by Tom Ford. They celebrated their new marriage July 31st during an intimate ceremony aboard a 260-foot yacht on the Mediterranean Sea.
Miss Info reports that Swizz and Alicia were married earlier this week in the United States, before heading to the exclusive resort Costa Smeralda. According to reports, a handful of family and friends were on hand to celebrate the marriage, in addition to Keys’ pregnancy.

Earlier this week I saw pictures of The Dream and an unknown women on the beach, The Dream confirmed that he and wife Christina Milian are splitting up. After confirming his separation, The-Dream has written a letter to his fans explaining the split….”Its easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT,” wrote The-Dream, whose real name is Terius Nash on his website. “I would love to tell the truth as to why my relationship wasn’t successful, but today that is between me and Christina.

A new study released by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention highlights how teenage Black girls are leading the way in smoking cessation.

The study, which was published earlier this month, focuses on the overall decline in teen smoking since 1991. But since 2003, amongst different ethnic and racial groups of both genders, African-American teenage girls are the only group to see their usage decline.

According to the study, the percentage of students who said they currently smoke cigarettes has dropped 17 percent since 1997 (36.4 to 19.5). The percentage of students experimenting with cigarettes also dropped sharply from 70 percent to 46.3 percent in the last 20 years. While other groups have either increased or stayed at the same levels, young African-American teenage girls have been steadily declining usage since the year 2000.

The park is located on the site of the North Wake Landfill, which closed in May 2008. “This one-of-a-kind facility will provide safe, recreational opportunities for park users, preserve the natural environment and protect the public, as well as the landfill’s monitoring systems,” Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Tony Gurley said in a statement.
The park has a playground, picnic shelter and walking trail that connects to the Neuse River greenway. THis sounds nice…if you live in the area, go check it out!

Raleigh’s annual Independence Day celebration begins at 5 p.m. Sunday with activities for kids and families until 8:30 p.m. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. It’s all free and at the State Fairgrounds on Blue Ridge Road.

Cary celebrates all weekend with events Saturday and Sunday. Fireworks, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Amphitheatre in Cary.

The State Capitol is adding a naturalization ceremony to its traditional July 4 celebration. The free event is noon to 4 p.m.

The Festival for the Eno in Durham runs Saturday through Monday.

Marbles Kids Museum will offer July 4 activities all weekend.

As previously reported, Eminem roars onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with “Recovery.” When I was on the air last week I told you about this, and here it is. Eminem right behind the Beatles at the top of Billboard charts! Em expanded his Number 1 streak to six. He’s definitely doing his thang…..With five other cuts from “Recovery” debuting on the Hot 100, Eminem places seven songs on billboard, matching Drake for the second-best weekly total among rappers. I have the album and I like it and I’m not a big Eminem fan. Let me know what you think.

Just when I thought I could be hopeful and see a historical comeback by the Orlando Magic, the Celtics shut them down! Both Paul Pierce (31 points) and Nate Robinson did their thing to close out the series 4-2 on Friday. Final score of the game was 96-84. Now, the Celtics try to make history as they head to the Championship game trying to bring home their 18th NBA Championship banner!
