Eminem will be one of the performers at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards MTV confirmed today (August 23rd).

The news comes amidst Eminem’s chart domination with his latest album Recovery. The album, which has been nominated for 8 VMA nominations, has been #1 for almost 7 weeks, while two singles, “Love The Way You Lie” with Rihanna and “Not Afraid” also topped the charts.

Other performers hitting the stage during the VMA’s include Kanye West, Drake. B.o.B., Justin Bieber, Florence + The Machine and others.

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9:00 PM on MTV.

Montana Fishburne’s arrest for prostitution in November 2009 may be coming back to haunt her soon.

According to her lawyer, Sammy Weiss, Montana pled guilty to the charge in March 2010 just to avoid jail time and received two years of probation. Having sex for money violates the terms of her probation, and she could get six months in jail.

Though Montana denies that she was a prostitute and that the arrest was for trespassing, the court documents clearly state otherwise.

North Carolina teachers are preparing for new sex education classes that will give students more information about contraceptives than in previous years.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Sunday that the 2009 Healthy Youth Act requires schools to give students access to more information on sexually transmitted diseases and sexual assault as part of a revised sex-education program.

The law marks a change from an abstinence-only policy previously used to guide schools’ sex ed classes.

State Rep. Susan Fisher helped pushed through the legislation. The Buncombe Democrat says students will still be taught that abstinence is the best defense against sexually transmitted diseases, but they also will be taught how to protect themselves.

The goal is to reduce teen pregnancy and boost graduation rates.

A bulletproof vest saved the life of a city cop shot by one of his NYPD colleagues Sunday in a wild Harlem shootout that left two men riddled with police bullets.

Luis Soto, 22, died after being shot six times. The fatal bullet tore through his lungs, heart and kidney

The police said Soto was killed by Angel Alvarez, 23, who then shot at police officers, four of whom returned fire.
