Rock slide cripples area

Authorities say that it may take 3 months or more to clear debris from a rock slide that closed Interstate 40 in both directions at the North Carolina-Tennessee state line near mile marker three in Haywood County, west of Asheville. A DOT spokeswoman said Monday the rock slide has created a 53-mile detour.
