Bret Favre’s streak of starting 297 consecutive games ended Monday when he was placed on the inactive list about an hour before the game kicked off.

The streak began in September of 1992, when Favre replaced an injured Don Majkowski as the Green Bay Packers’ starter. It has stayed in tact through a career of ups, downs, and injuries. When Favre’s father passed away a few years ago, he threw four touchdowns in the first half on Monday Night Football along with 399 passing yards in a 41-7 win over the Raiders.

Favre will stand on the sideline for the first time in 18 years as back up quarterback Tarvaris Jackson takes over for him. I think we are finally witnessing the end of an era.
