DURHAM, N.C. — Officials in a North Carolina county are trying to help former offenders find jobs after they’re released.

The Durham County Criminal Justice Resource Center is holding a training session Wednesday for anyone who wants to apply for the Project Restore Vocational Training Program.

Organizers say the 12-week program is a partnership with Durham Technical Community College.

Participants attend classes for six weeks and then use their new skills to build and repair homes.

The next cycle of Project Restore begins in February. There is another information session Thursday and two in early January.
