An unnamed Chinese coal barron has purchased “Big Splash” for $1.6 million, making him the most expensive dog in the world. The dog, known as “Hong Dong” in Chinese, is an 11-month red Tibetan mastiff described by his breeder as the “perfect specimen.” The breed are rarely found outside of their native Tibet, and have become a status symbol for the uber rich. Another red Tibetan mastiff named “Yangtze River Number Two” held the title of world’s richest dog when he was bought for $600,000 in 2009. 

The owner could charge $16,000 each time the dog is bred!
