It had to end. The last group of brightly dressed daytime disciples filed into Harpo Studios in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon and witnessed the final taping of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’ The episode, to air Wednesday, continues to be a tightly guarded secret and fans were only notified about their lucky break (imagine the free gift) on Friday or Saturday.

Keeping with the secretive vibe, the finale was closed to the media and there are no plans to release excerpts from it.

Winfrey’s bestie, Gayle King, milled about with the fans and interviewed several of them with a camera phone. “I have such mixed feelings about it,” she said about the show’s end.

Since you do not live under a rock, you are aware Winfrey is leaving her show after 25 years to concentrate on OWN, her fledgling cable network.
