It’s looking more likely that  Hurricane Irene, which has already cut a destructive path through the Caribbean, will impact North Carolina and possibly make landfall this weekend.

Forecasters say the hurricane could grow to a Category 4 storm with winds of more than 131 mph before it’s predicted to come ashore this weekend…

Because the storm is so large, Florida could begin feeling some effects from the storm late Wednesday. Watches along the U.S. mainland could be posted later today…

At this point, the chances of it making landfall in Florida look less than they did yesterday, and the chances of it making landfall in North Carolina look a lot greater.
