Yesterday, three people were taken to Johnston County Memorial Hospital, where one later died, after being hit by a truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The incident took place in Smithfield at the Wal-Mart on North Brightleaf Boulevard. 95-year-old Benjamin Moye, of Newport News, Va. was driving a pick up truck when he hit the pedestrians.
No charges have been filed. Investigators are trying to determine whether the driver was at fault or whether it was an equipment failure.
