SHOWTIME SAYS…

Bank of America has decided that it will not charge debit card customers a monthly fee to use their cards.   The $5 charge was greeted with uproar after the bank’s customers petitioned and threatened to close their accounts if the fee was implemented.

Bank of America’s Chief Operating Officer David Darnell said that  “Our customers’ voices are most important to us. As a result, we are not currently charging the fee and will not be moving forward with any additional plans to do so.”

Bank of America is based in Charlotte and is also testing other options for their checking accounts. These accounts come with  monthly fees ranging from $6 to $25 and are currently being tested in Arizona, Georgia and Massachusetts.
