A South Florida company that specializes in education has decided to start giving props to Hip Hop stars. Better Education Place has named Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj as their Teachers Of The Year. The Best Male and Female teacher honors were given to the Young Money label mates based on categories that deemed them more influential than teachers who actually teach in a classroom.
“Apparently students are drawn in by the ‘swagger,’” says Melvin El, president of Better Education Place. “If you are a teacher today and you don’t have any swagger, you are going to struggle to get your students’ attention. It turns out a teacher can learn a lot from Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.”
I’m not sure I agree with this one…Actually I don’t agree with it! There are teachers out there in the classrooms busting their butts to try to give quality education to their kids. I think it’s a slap in the face to every dedicated teacher to say that an entertainer is doing a better job of teaching the kids than they are. It’s bad enough our kids are looking to music and TV for their version of reality, now you’re going to strip the hard work of teachers and school administrators away by rewarding a rap artist who probably never even graduated high school….WE GOT TO DO BETTER!
