A man who was known in the Cary area as “Santa John” has been arrested and charged with first-degree sex offense with a child.
John Thomas Peters, has also been charged with solicitation by computer and dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
The man’s website says that his name is “Santa John” who drives a red convertible with the license plate that says “SantaCar.” He has also been a member of the Santa Buddies since 2009.
Police say Peters got in touch with a minor girl through a modeling website under the premise of being a photographer looking to do a photoshoot.
According to police, Peters kept contacting the victim and set up a meeting. He also began to send her pornographic material and requested that she send him pictures that were sexual in nature.
Peters attempted to arrange a meeting with the girl at a local McDonalds, but he was met by cops instead.
He was booked in jail and given a $1 Million bail.
