It’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes. Whether you opt for a scary or sexy costume, the fun of the holiday lies in changing your look and living life as someone new, if only for an evening. We’ve always been fans of celebrity costumes, and given today’s wealth of colorful music, television, and film stars, imitating the rich and famous is a cinch. Here are some of our suggestions for great celebrity Halloween costumes:

Nicki Minaj

The key here is bright colors. First, get yourself a pink, green, yellow, or blue wig—then slather on some makeup to match. As for the outfit, there’s plenty to choose from. Nicki—aka the Harajuku Barbie, aka Roman Zolanski—has rocked everything from leopard-skin cat suits to neon tutus, and who could forget that Little Red Riding Hood outfit she sported at the 2012 Grammys?

Lil Wayne

Nicki Minaj has called herself “The Female Weezy,” so it’s only natural for Wayne himself to come next on our list. This one’s pretty easy: Wayfarer sunglasses, dreadlock wig, baseball cap, gold chains, sagging jeans, and wifebeater. The hardest part: Convincing yourself to take a Sharpie to your face, neck, arms, and just about every other visible inch of skin on our body. It’s either that or shell out for real tattoos!

Kim Kardashian

This one’s simple but hard to pull off: dark wig, dramatic eye makeup, and a tight dress. It doesn’t hurt to add some padding in strategic places.

Kanye West

Every Kim needs her Kanye, and the rap superstar’s look isn’t so hard to cop. Grab some black shades, flashy basketball sneakers, a pair of skinny jeans, and a slim-fit leather jacket or designer hoodie. You might also wind up looking like Jay-Z—or any number of other rappers—but if anyone calls you Hova, just roll with it.

Rick Ross

This is a good one for the bigger dudes out there. If you don’t have time to grow a beard, just head to the costume shop for a good fake one. Add aviator shades, chains, and a colorful track jacket, and you’re on your way to being the Bawse.

As with Nicki, this costume offers plenty of leeway, as the Bajan beauty changes looks by the hour, but for our money, the key to being RiRi is short, black, angular hair; red lipstick and nails; dark sunglasses; hoop earrings; and a black outfit that shows off plenty of thigh, midriff, and chest. Bonus points for that steely stare that says, “Mess with me, and I’ll eat you alive.”
