Music icon Prince is going to be honored for all of his musical contributions at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall on March 7. Besides being honored by pop music’s elite, Prince will get a tribute from Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli and The Roots.

Details concerning which of The Purple one’s songs will get a hip-hop twist. Along with The Roots and Talib, the line up is packed with artists who are considered the elite in their respective genres of music. Booker T, Living Colour, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and DeVotchKa will also take the stage to honor Prince.

Michael Dorf, the concert’s organizer, answered questions about why he chose to do a Prince tribute concert and Dorf replied, “Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters in my collection. He makes my Top 10 when I think about the artists who have truly shaped modern music.”

The Prince tribute show is part of Carnegie Hall’s spring fundraising drive for music education programs in educational facilities.
