Model Jourdan Dunn invited her model girlfriend, Cara Delevingne to cook some tempura shrimp on her Life & Times cooking show, “Well Dunn.” Once Delevingne explained to Jourdan that she doesn’t cook, but she’s a “wifey,” Dunn wanted to know how she could call herself such when she never cooks anything other than toast.

Cara then claimed that, “Modern day wifeys don’t need to know how to cook.” Of course I rolled my eyes at that statement and not only because I hate the term, “wifey,” but because Cara thinks that girls don’t need cooking skills. Her mom must have never taught her the way to a man’s heart.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to keep women locked away in the kitchen, slaving over the stove on clear heels. But I do see the value in women and men knowing how to cook. However, it’s not a requirement. But as a southern woman, I think women who can’t cook and refuse to learn are limited in their thinking.

I love that Jourdan is a model who can cook and does it well. She’s not afraid of the kitchen, nor her feminine power via the stove. However, her friend Cara will end up making a “rubbish” wife, according to Dunn.

What do you think? Are modern-day wifeys exempt from cooking?
