Wake County Public Libraries, in collaboration with Wake County Parks, Recreation, and Open Space, will host the annual Storytelling Festival on September 28, 2013.  The event, in its 31st incarnation, will take place at Historic Oak View County Park from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Featured storytellers for the day include Heather Forest (www.heatherforest.com) and The Healing Force (www.thehealingforceonline.com). The family-friendly band Big Bang Boom and the theatre troupe Rags to Riches will perform during the day.  In addition, children’s services staff members from the library will be telling stories using the emergent literacy techniques in the Every Child Read to Read program series. There will be three main stage/tent areas for storytelling.   Other family friendly events include the ever popular hayride shuttle, face painting, and gaming sites where children earn tokens to use at the storytelling festival store. A food vendor will also be on site from 11:00 a.m.  until 2:30 p.m.  for attendees to grab a quick lunch.

The event is free and families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and spend the fall day listening to creative tales in a beautiful park setting. Storytelling will occur underneath large tents and the event will occur, rain or shine.
