Singer Miley Cyrus appeared on SNL last night and opened up the show by discussing her controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance.

She also performed on a skit parodying her viral video hit “We Can’t Stop” and mocked the U.S. government shutdown. In the clip Cyrus played congresswoman Michele Bachmann and comedian Taran Killam played the role of House Speaker John Boehner.
