One of the biggest divas of all, Mariah Carey, just dropped her fourteenth album, Me. I Am Mariah..The Elusive Chanteuse, and although its been met with good reviews, it’s only projected to sell 55-60k the first week. The album will sit at either #3 or #4 on the Hot 200.
Her last album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel sold approximately 160k back in 2009, so this is a substantial drop. But honestly this shouldn’t come as a surprise with no hit single, multiple push-backs, and little promo.
I was initially excited for Mimi’s first post-baby album, but my excitement began to wane after she kept dropping disappointing single after single, ie. “Triumphant,” “You’re Mine (Eternal),” and “The Art of Letting Go.”
Hopefully the Grammy winner can still find success, because it is one of her best album of the past 10 years.
