According to North Carolina’s Charlotte Post, the LGBT Community Center of Charlotte has elected Ranzeno Frazier as its youngest and first African-American chair of its board of trustees. But not everyone is happy about his groundbreaking role. Frazier’s selection was met with both positive and negative responses, with naysayers taking issue with his age and experience, the paper reports. Florida Cops Fired For KKK Ties

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is expected to release the details of an investigation into two former Fruitland Park police officers who may have ties with the Ku Klux Klan. An FBI investigation named Deputy Police Chief David Borst and Cpl. George Hunnewell as Klansmen. Borst resigned Thursday while Hunnewell was fired on Friday. Police Chief Terry Isaacs said an FBI confidential source revealed the two officers from his department were members of the KKK. Read more.

Eric Holder Bashes Sarah Palin, Dismisses Call For Obama Impeachment

Attorney General Eric Holder hit back hard on Sunday at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who recently called for the impeachment of President Barack Obama. Speaking with Pierre Thomas on ABC News’ “This Week,” Holder took a swing at Palin, dismissing her credentials for making such a statement. “She wasn’t a particularly good vice presidential candidate,” Holder said. “She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why.” Read more.

Ford to Donate $1M to Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture

Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture received a major show of support from the Ford Motor Co. on July 4. Smithsonian and Ford mutually announced the $1 million endowment at the 20th anniversary of the Essence Festival in New Orleans, with the Twitter hashtag #fordgivesback. Once the museum—spanning a 5-acre plot on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.—opens its doors in 2016, it will be the foremost home for all things related to African-American culture and history. Read more.
