hbcu North Carolina is home to 11 Historically Black Colleges & Universities and home of the largest HBCU. Shaw University, Saint Augustine,North Carolina Central University,Barber-Scotia College,Bennett College, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University , Livingstone College, Winston-Salem State University and the largest HBCU of all is North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. For years Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fla. has held the title of being the largest HBCU of all but with a 1.6 percent increase in enrollment this fall North Carolina’s A&T has surpassed them. According to unofficial fall enrollment numbers, A&T has 10,734 students enrolled this year. Home of the Greatest Homecoming On Earth has no plans on slowing down. Future plans include stepping up graduate and undergraduate recruitment for high-growth, high-demand programs, including engineering, nanoengineering, science and agriculture. A&T’s enrollment goal for 2020 is 13,500 students.
