This could get a whole lot worse before it gets better…

A second hospital worker has tested positive for Ebola in Dallas,Texas, where the first ever patient to be diagnosed in the US, Thomas Duncan, was admitted in September. He died Oct. 8th.

It is unclear at this time how she contracted the disease, but it’s speculated that it had to do with the way she removed her protective gear.

The CDC has released a statement saying:

“An additional health care worker testing positive for Ebola is a serious concern, and the CDC has already taken active steps to minimize the risk to health care workers and the patient.”

Earlier this week, the CDC admitted to not taking better control of the situation in Dallas and Dr. Tom Frieden – head of the CDC – said, “We could’ve sent a more robust hospital infection control team and been more hands-on with the hospital from day one about exactly how this should be managed.”

I’m giving the CDC, and the staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital some serious side eye. It seems as though everyone including, the initial emergency room staff who let Duncan get on his first visit and the CDC are not taking any of this as seriously as they should. Negligence is all around.

Hopefully both workers will fully recover and they didn’t infect anyone else.
