Woman, 19, shot on Detroit’s east side
We’re following breaking news from Detroit’s east side. That’s where a 19-year-old woman has been shot in the head.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, the victim was dumped out of a vehicle on the 19000 block of Blackmoore. That’s near 7 Mile and Outer Drive. The woman is in critical condition.We have a crew working to uncover more information.
Arsonist caught on camera torching apartment building in Detroit
Arson investigators in Detroit need your help to catch a man captured on video torching an apartment building on the city’s east side. In the video footage, you can actually see the man walking down the hallway of an apartment building located at 9645 Shoemaker.
The incident happened Sunday night around 7:30 p.m. You can see the man pouring gasoline up and down the hallway,two dogs come out of an apartment–likely from smelling the gas– and then he nearly lights the animals on fire. Detroit’s arson chief is hoping someone can identify the man by his build or perhaps by the way he walks.

Man charged with double homicide in Detroit foreclosure gunfight
A man who lost his home is accused of fatally shooting its new owners in a gunfight. Alonzo Long faced a judge Monday Afternoon, charged with double homicide at a tax foreclosed Detroit house.
The 22-year-old is accused of shooting and killing Howard Franklin and his daughter Catherine Franklin Friday after Thanksgiving in the Rosedale Park residence. Franklin, 72, and Catherine, 37, were taking possession of the house in the 15100 block of Piedmont after winning it in Wayne County’s tax auction.
Investigators say Long and other men were removing fixtures from the home. One neighbor however, says they were taking their own personal property. Franklin confronted them and then the shootout took place. Anolick lives across the street and was home when it happened. The shooting is raising more concerns about tax foreclosures and the drama that can occur when new owners evict those who have lost their homes.
The Wayne County Treasurer’s office called Friday’s shooting tremendously unfortunate and that people need to tread carefully and use the court system to remove occupants .It also said of the 40,00 homes it’s sold over three years this is the first time an eviction led to violence. Detroit police is still investigating the incident. Long is being held in Wayne County Jail and returns to court on Dec. 11.
Bloomfield Hills teacher killed in crash
Bloomfield Hills schools is dealing with the tragic loss of a teacher. The teacher from Eastover Elementary school was killed in a crash and her husband, who also worked for the district, was injured.
It happened Sunday night on I-75 in Mount Morris Township, just north of Flint. The car that Shelley and Eric Lazarus were in slowed for traffic, but the car behind them didn’t stop, and read-ended them. Shelley Lazarus died at the scene. Her husband is in critical condition. The driver of the car that hit them is in jail. He reportedly was driving with a suspended license, and police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The superintendent of Bloomfield Hills schools says counselors and social workers will be available throughout the week for students.
Michigan man stopped for ‘walking with hands in his pockets’
A video showing a man being stopped by a deputy in Pontiac for “walking with his hands in his pockets” is getting a lot of backlash. The man was stopped and questioned after a “nervous” passerby called 911 to report that he was “walking with his hands in his pockets.”
The man was eventually allowed to leave without incident. We should note, according to the Pontiac Tribune, the man being questioned is African-American.
