It looks like calling out the GOP for stalling Loretta Lynch’s confirmation process has gotten things moving in the Senate!

In a bid to nudge Republicans, Senate Dems sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to schedule a vote ASAP. It must have worked because  The Huffington Post reports that he said the Senate is set to vote on the attorney general nominee’s confirmation next week!

MUST READ: Get It Together: Senate Democrats Pushing GOP To Vote On Loretta Lynch’s Confirmation

Loretta is poised to become the first Black woman to take on the role of Attorney General of the United States, but her road to taking on the job has been a long one. It’s been months since Eric Holder announced that he would be stepping down from his position as the Attorney General. Loretta was nominated to take over for him shortly after that, but Senate Republicans demanded that President Barack Obama hold off on officially submitting the nomination until this year.

Since the president wouldn’t wait to move forward with the process GOP members have been dragging their heels on getting her confirmed. Yesterday Sen. Chuck Schumer highlighted the fact that it’s been 117 days since she was first nominated.

Hopefully, Loretta won’t have to wait too much longer to become the next Attorney General.
