Teen raped as Detroit police warn of attempted abductions
A 14-year-old girl was dragged into an alley Tuesday near Livernois Avenue and Cortland Street in Detroit.
She was raped by a man wearing a mask. The young girl was taken to Henry Ford Hospital.
Police also are investigating four attempted abductions of girls aged 14-17 just a few miles away from where Tuesday’s attack happened. Young teen girls are being targeted as they walk to school by a predator trying to drag them into his car.

“Stop the violence march” on Detroit’s east side
Anti-violence groups gathered in Detroit Wednesday for a “Stop the Violence March” engaging the community in an initiative to create a better future for the youth of Detroit.
Community leaders, city council members and Detroit police came together on the city’s east side shutting down part of Kelly Rd. marching and chanting to stop the senseless violence.
“We’re walking for peace, we’re walking for justice there’s been entirely too much crime,” City Council President Brenda Jones said.
With chants of taking back the streets and goals of reducing Detroit’s gun violence, murder rate and violent crimes that threaten youth and the city’s future.
“You get to a point where you just get tired and you just get fed up and you just think about what can we do as a community?” Detroit Police Sgt. Rodney Cox said.
Detroit police are sending the message that they can’t do it alone.
“We need to help our officers, we need to join in against those who continue to plague our city with crime that we’re not going to stand for it, we’re not going to tolerate it and we will join with police in an effort to fight crime,” Cox said.

What you need to know about the Takata airbag recall
Takata expanded it’s recall of vehicles with it’s airbags to nearly 34 million for the largest recall in automotive history
The defective airbag inflators, which can explode and send shrapnel flying, has been linked to at least six deaths and more than 100 injuries in the United States.
The National Highway and Traffic Administration had been pressing the Japanese airbag maker since November to admit the defective equipment.
“Up until now, Takata has refused to acknowledge their airbags are defective but that changes today,” said Anthony Foxx, United States Transportation Secretary.
The 10 automakers part of the recall include: BMW, Dodge Ram, Mazda, Pontiac with Chrysler, Toyota and Honda carrying the most affected vehicles.
