Jay-Z is about to embark on another historical journey. The rapper has become the first Hip Hop artist to ever be nominated for the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Jay finds himself standing beside some really legendary acts in the 2017 class. Artists like Madonna, George Michael, Sly Stone, GLoria Estefan, Kool, and The Gang and more were also nominated.
Eligibility for the Songwriters Hall of Fame is based on 20 years of songwriting experience. Since Jay’s debut album Reasonable Doubt was released in 1996 next year will be his first year of eligibility. The final group of five inductees will have a ceremony in New York on June 15th.
