The legal battle hanging over President-elect Donald Trump’s head for the last six and a half years was settled out of court on Friday for $25 million. The trial was scheduled to start a week from today.

The class action lawsuit accused the now-defunct Trump University of fraud for not delivering on its promises to students. Six thousand people who paid up to $35,000 dollars in tuition will now get at least half of their money back.

On Monday’s edition of NewsOne Now, Joe Madison, host of The Joe Madison Show on Sirius XM Radio, expressed his frustration with the President-elect being forced to settle a fraud lawsuit a month before his inauguration. “The reality is this man hustled everybody,” he said. “The man lied to his supporters.”

Host Roland Martin agreed with Madison’s blunt assessment of the Trump case, asking, “What does it say that the 45th President of the United States, a month before he gets inaugurated, is settling a fraud case?”

According to Martin, the idea that Trump would have to settle the case “should be offensive to any Republican or Democrat.”

Trump tweeted about the issue:

Martin said, “It should be problematic for anybody in this country that the person who is walking into the White House is settling a fraud case for a fake university … Donald Trump, who is the President-elect, hustled these people and that is the person who is walking into the White House.”
