NBA star Lebron James continues his tradition of giving back to his hometown community in Ohio. Now Bron is opening his own public school for at risk kids in Akron.
Lebron and his Family Foundation announced plans to open the I Promise School in 2018. The school will focus on children who grew up in similar conditions as Lebron.
“This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most — those that could fall through the cracks if we don’t do something,” LeBron says.
Lebron has also partnered with the University of Akron to provide full scholarships to any student who graduates from his I Promise program.
