Barack Obama is definitely a hopeless romantic and even allegedly proposed to the woman he was with before Michelle Obama twice but she turned him down both times.
In a book entitled, “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” author David Garrow claims that the former president had asked a woman named Sheila Miyoshi Jager to marry him twice after meeting her while in Chicago.
Obama had allegedly first proposed to the Dutch and Japanese professor in the mid-80s but her parents put a stop to it arguing that the she was too young to get married.
The second occasion came about while Obama was preparing to leave Chicago for Havard in Boston in 1988.
At the time, the relationship was strained because of Obama’s strong desire to want to be president one day. His ambitions and his “a deep-seated need to be loved and admired” caused a rift in his relationship with Jager because he was concerned about what message the world would receive from him not having a Black woman as his wife.
Well, I’m happy fate intervened because we LOVE Michelle!!
