Rapper Kodak Black has been sentenced to 364 days in a Broward County jail after being found guilty of violating the terms of his parole.

The rapper was arrested on February 28 after he violated the terms of his parole from a 2016 conviction.

In the courtroom on Thursday, character witnesses — including the rapper’s mother, godmother, family friend, and a representative from Atlantic Records — spoke on Kodak Black’s behalf, according to Clarkson. The 19-year-old also read a prepared statement, apologizing to family, friends, and those in the courtroom for his behavior. “Depending on the outcome of this case, it can be the beginning of my career, or the end of my career.”

The judge handed down the 364 sentence but told Kodak that if he completes a life skills course while incarcerated he could be released in about a month. Kodak is still facing felony charges in South Carolina for an alleged sexual assault.
