Chance The Rapper could be working on a new version of the classic HBO show Def Poetry Jam.
Word on the street is that Russell Simmons wants to relaunch the show and have Chance as the official host. The show would still be on HBO, but would be called All Def Poetry.
Russell posted an update to his IG page with the caption
Def poetry has won a Peabody award, Image award ,and a Tony award. Now I think I want an Emmy. The hood needs a Emmy.
Simmons has worked with HBO for years on shows like Def Comedy Jam and the original Def Poetry Jam which was hosted by Mos Def from 2002-2007. His shows have also launched the careers of folks like Chris Tucker, Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Martin Lawrence and more.
