St. Louis is going crazy right now after news broke that a St. Louis Judge on Friday found former police officer Jason Stockley not guilty in the 2011 shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith.

“It is ordered, adjudged and decreed that the State has failed in its burden of proof and the Court finds that defendant is not guilty of both charges in this case, murder first degree and armed criminal action,” the verdict from Judge Timothy Wilson read.

In case your unfamiliar with this story, Stockely shot and killed Anthony Lamar Smith, 24, after a high speed police chase back in Dec 2011, according to CNN.

Stockley pleaded not guilty and said he acted in self defense because he believed that Smith was reaching for a gun. Prosecutors think that Smith tampered with the scene and planted a silver revolver to justify his senseless killing.

The site also claims that the city has been waiting for this verdict for weeks.
