Angela Bassett is not bothered by the New York Times referred to her as Omarosa Manigault-Newman in a photo caption after the 2018 Emmy Awards. As you know Black Twitter was not happy about the messing up names AGAIN! Bassett basically asked fans to calm down and don’t get to upset. She posted a cute meme on Twitter.
The New York Times did appolgize for the mix up.
Everyone is happy that Angela Bassett is taking the high road, but it’s funny that the media keeps confusing women of color. Fox News confused Pattie LaBelle with Aretha Franklin. Total Beauty (a beauty website) confused Whoopi Goldberg for Oprah Winfrey at the 2016 Oscars and on the official Twitter account for the Golden Globes confused America Ferrera with Gina Rodriguez. That only a few times that has happened. Hummm…so do all people of color look alike? Really?
