The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) are recommending that contact wearers take out their lens when they go sleep or even for a nap! When you sleep in your contacts, you increase your risk of an infection goes up 8x. They are also recommending that you throw your contacts away in the trash or in the recycling bin. Don’t flush your contacts because they go into our water system, which is currently over run by plastic.
