Dwayne Johnson is producing and staring in John Henry and the Statesman, The movie is about the folklore legend of John Henry. Henry is an African-American folk hero who, as a steel driver, raced against a steam machine and won. There are songs and stories about Henry. Johnson posted on Instagram yesterday about the role and his excitement.
So why is black twitter mad? Johnson is half African-American and half Samoan so why the uproar? Well, in all of the folklore, John Henry was a dark skinned man. And well, Johnson isn’t.

Johnson hasn’t responded to the the comments yet and Netflix hasn’t released a date yet for the film. This should be interesting.
