The Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning and people are SCREAMING with excitement! In the Best Motion Picture – Drama category there are 3 black films nominated – Black Panther, BlackKKlansman and If Beale Street Could Talk. Yes, you read that right, Black Panther was nominated! YES! In the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category two minority films were nominated, The Green Book and Crazy Rich Asians. Plus John David Washington (BlackKKlansman) was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama, and Mahershala Ali (The Green Book) was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Regina King is double nominated for Best Supporting actress (If Beale Street Could Talk) and she’s nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Seven Seconds. Barry Jenkins was nominated for If Beale Street Could Talk screenplay. Spike Lee (BlackKKlansman) was nominated for Best Director. And Black Panther songs were nominated for Best Orignal Score and “All the Stars” was nominated for Best Orignal Song. AWESOME!
