The Oscars were last night and it was an amazing night! As everyone predicted, Regina King won Best Supporting Actress, Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor and Rami Malek won Best Lead Actor. Did you know that Rami is Egyptian American? He’s black ya’ll! YES! That means a black man won Best Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actor in the same year. That hasn’t happened since 2005 when Jamie Foxx won Best Lead Actor for ‘Ray’ and Morgan Freeman won Best Supporting Actor for ‘Million Dollar Baby’. AWESOME!

For the first time ever, a black woman won Best Costume Design, Ruth Carter for ‘Black Panther’ and Best Production Design, Hannah Beachler (and Jay R. Hart). Although, ‘Black Panther’ didn’t win Best Picture which went to ‘Green Book’ but ‘Black Panther’ did win Best Original Score. Out of the 6 nominations, ‘Black Panther’ won 3. That’s good odds!

To complete the night, ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’. Also to keep the excitement going, Spike Lee won his first Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. WOW!
