Harriet Tubman

The Harriet Tubman $20 bill won’t come out next year like it was originally scheduled. The new $20 bill was scheduled to come out in 2020 to mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote. Yeah! According to The Tennessean, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that the bill will not be unveiled until 2028.

Why you ask? Mnuchin told Congress, “The primary reason we have looked at redesigning the currency is for counterfeiting issues. Based upon this, the $20 bill will now not come out until 2028. The $10 bill and the $50 bill will come out with new features beforehand.” But the $10 and $50 bills are the ones with the counterfeiting issues. Hmm. And Essence put it nicely by saying “So, therefore, they get priority? Or is the $20 bill only being put on the back burner because Donald Trump slammed the idea of it in 2016, calling it “pure political correctness?” Good point.

So we have to wait! UGH! At least we get a movie about Harriet Tubman which stars Viola Davis. No release date for the movie yet. Why are people trying to block us from seeing Harriet? Haters!
