This was one graduation students at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School will never forget! NBA Star #DwayneWade made a surprise commencement speech for the class of 2019 graduation.

The retired legend has been a huge support of the Parkland, Florida community since the school shooting back in February of 2018. #Wade made a trip to the schools after the shooting and he reflected on his experience of the school day during his commencement speech. “I realized that at that moment, we all had a responsibility. A responsibility to be seen, to be heard, to stand up and stand tall, for the ones that no longer had a voice”.

Wade also reflected on finding out that one of the shooting victims was buried in his jersey. “Thank you for reminding me of my purpose. I’ll try to continue to be a leader and a fighter that Joaquin Oliver thought I was. And I’ll keep reminding you of the strength that was shown, from the parents, from the staff, from this community, was powerful”.

Congratulations to the class for 2019 and we are sorry for the losses that families had to experience the school shooting.
