Rosa Parks Tribute

Angel Franco

Mattel, the makers of #Barbie and many other things have released dolls to honor two of the most historic figures of all time. #RosaParks and #SallyRide get their own dolls and children everywhere will have the chance to play with these role models.

Rosa Parks is an American activist who is known for her act during the Civil Rights movement by refusing to give up her seat on a bus because she was a colored woman. Sally Ride is the first African-American woman, and the YOUNGEST to fly in space.

Each doll will come with education material that allows children to learn about each woman’s contributions to society. The dolls will also include authentic clothing and unique accessories to go along with it. Mattel made a statement regarding the newly released dolls saying “Both Sally Ride and Rosa Parks made the world better for future generations of girls. By celebrating their achievements with dolls made in their likeness, we hope girls will be inspired to pursue their dreams”.

These dolls will be a part of the Inspiring Women Series along with Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson and Frida Kahlo. The dolls are now available in stores. We are so excited to see the success of these dolls and rooting for all the young women who aspire to be so much like them.
