Some people should never be left alone with children. In Memphis, a man is in police custody after authorities say he beat a 2-year-old to death with a basketball shoe because she accidentally defecated on the floor.
According to the police report, 23-year-old Calvin Jones was babysitting his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter when the child had an accident on the floor. Jones told police that he “disciplined” the child with a basketball shoe and the back of his hand, smacking her several times. When the child’s mother, 21-year-old Anisha Alford returned, the child reportedly complained of not feeling well and was cold to the touch.
Here’s the worst part, her mom refused to take her to a hospital (evon though witnesses said they saw the child gagging and spitting up with her eyes rolling in the back of her head)… Instead the couple went to sleep and woke up in the morning to find the child dead.
Jones faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. The mother has been charged with first degree child abuse as well.
