Award-winning actress (you read that correctly) Mariah Carey was cast in Tyler Perry’s big-screen adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s 1975 play, Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, but has pulled out because “her doctor advised her not to.” Many believe Mariah walked away from the movie because she’s pregnant, though that’s still unconfirmed.

There’s no telling how big Carey’s role was and whether it required a good amount of physical work. Although rumors abound that the singer is pregnant, Carey has denied them for months. Most recently, the 41-year-old New York native was seen performing at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt. She also recently celebrated her second wedding anniversary to actor Nick Cannon. Carey was last seen on the big screen opposite Gabourey Sidibe in the critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated film ‘Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,’ for which she received raved reviews.

The rest of the ‘Colored Girls’ cast includes Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Macy Gray and Anika Noni Rose,

In the meantime, Perry and his producing team are in search of another actress to take over the role.
