Durham Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured. Tracey Elliott, 24, faces murder charges and is being held in the Durham County Jail without bond. Police have charged 25-year-old Roger Evans with murder at a Durham apartment. Evans was taken into custody Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He and 24-year-old Tracey Elliott are charged with shooting three people at the Pinecrest Apartments early Monday morning.

According to police on scene, around 3 a.m. officers were patrolling near 608 Hardee Street when they heard gunshots. While investigating the shots fired, police discovered three males had been shot in front of an apartment building.

One person died as a result of the shooting and two people were transported to Duke University Hospital.

Solomon Townsend, a neighbor at the apartment building, tells NBC-17 that he called 911 after hearing gunshots.

“I ran to my door to see what was going on and a Hispanic male came to my door. He was bleeding, so I immediately shut my door out of safety for me and my family,” said Townsend. “We called police and right now the guy’s still in front of our door.” One victim is in serious condition and the other suffered non life threatening injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released. Townsend adds that the man who died moved into the apartment about two weeks ago.
